#44 - Narration and then a Post

Max had spent the better part of a week stuck inside of Bulba's body. It had been very hard on him - he wasn't used to being this small or this weak. No offense, Bulba, but you aren't that strong. Max was confused as to why at 15 you weren't bigger, but it probably had something to do with how when you were a pokemon you were even smaller.
Oh good lord, so much smaller. Being just under five feet tall was bad enough, but turning into something the size of a lap dog? It set Max on edge. Being this small just simply shouldn't have been possible. He did his best in practice, but he'd slipped up a few times. A couple of times he tried to work things like he had to do when he'd been Blastoise. And while both of them did use things on their back, the application of large water cannons was very different from that of a bulb with leaves and vines and stuff on the inside.
Max had had a difficult week, suffice to say. He wasn't very good at lying, and right now his entire life was a bit of a lie. And the smallness really, on a level he wasn't aware of until it happened to him, disturbed him.
It would have helped if he had any sort of abilities as a boy, rather than just as a pokemon. The way things currently stood, the pokemon form was the only one that could use any moves at all. Without the bulb he had nothing, no vines, no leaves, no solar beams, no skull bash, nothing. But to access these he had to become smaller. Alright, fine, he could use Skull Bash as a human. But that one really, really made his head hurt. And he didn't think it worked any better than if he was just regularly hitting things with his head.
So Max did what Max always did, and that was train and give a million percent. He'd trained with using his pokemon powers, even though being a tiny bulbasaur bothered him. But he'd remembered how Blastoise could use his powers as a human. Now he had that arm, but even so. Max just thought that maybe he could just figure away to make those stupid leaves or solar beam or vines appear. If he just focused enough. And that way he wouldn't feel so helpless as a boy, and wouldn't have to revert to a form that made him feel even more uncomfortable than just being a little boy did.
And so he sat in his room when Brendan was out, and he tried. And tried. And tried. It had been five days now, and still nothing had happened. But he kept trying. He believed that if he just kept at it he could do it - he was Max, and nothing he set his heart to would ever escape his grasp. That's just how he rolled.
On day four he started feeling something. Sometimes. It felt like his shoulder blades had a lot of pressure on them after he'd been practicing for the better part of an hour. Now on Monday, that pressure seemed to come a lot quicker. Maybe it was just Max imagining things that he wanted to be there. Maybe it was just the extra intense weightlifting he was putting on Bulba's poor frame (he had doubled Bulba's daily weightlifting time, because to be frank Max wasn't going to study and he needed something to keep his mind off of all of this and only weightlifting to the point of anaerobic muscle failure would do it. Yeah, Max was an odd duck, alright?
But he'd felt something, he swore. And he was certain that if he just kept trying he could do it. And so he'd sat there for the past twenty minutes, teeth clenched and trying so hard to use one of Bulba's abilities in a human body.
And that's when, on who knows what attempt of that day to use vine whip, the pressure built to the point where it felt like his back was going to explode when suddenly it did and he felt his shirt tear (the pain in his shoulders still remained). The book he'd been trying to knock off of the shelf was suddenly knocked off of the shelf by a green vine and the shirt he'd been wearing now hung much more loosely on his boyish frame, as it was now missing most of the back of it.
He'd done it. He'd finally done it. There were tears of joy (he assumed it was joy) on his face.
I DID IT, I FINALLY DID IT, I'VE BEEN TRYING ALL WEEK BUT I FINALLY DID IT I GOT VINE WHIP TO WORK WHEN I'M A BOY I DON'T HAVE TO TURN INTO A LITTLE BULBASAUR ANYMORE TO USE IT. I BET I CAN USE OTHER STUFF TOO NOW. OH MAN I'M SO EXCITED, I MADE MY SHIRT RIP OFF MOSTLY WHEN I DID IT AND I KNOCKED A BOOK OFF A DESK AND I STILL GOT BOTH OF THEM IT'S KINDA WEIRD HAVING THEM OUT LIKE THAT OF MY BACK BUT WOW. BA.
Hey they're kinda red when I'm a boy. That's weird. Ba.
Oh that's, uh, I think, um, blood.
I guess maybe that's why my back still hurts a lot and maybe why I feel sorta... lightheaded, I guess, ba.
Oh gosh I'm so sorry I didn't mean to do this I just thought maybe I could do it as a human and I didn't think I'd ruin your back like this oh gosh I'm so sorry and I didn't mean to and now I'm gonna have to get my back bandaged up or something because I feel really bad now maybe I need someone to come take me to the nurse now.
ba.

Date: 2010-01-31 07:42 pm (UTC)that was totally for reals there the entire time.Alright so. I'm real sorry about all of this, you got no idea. I didn't mean to hurt Bulba like this. Just. Well, last time when I was Blastoise, he was big as a human, and he could use his pokemon stuff as a human, too.
And, well. I felt weak and helpless bein' just a regular little kid like Bulba. I sorta. I sorta got more respect for him now, knowin' he does everything he does just bein' little like he is. I guess maybe he's made of better stuff than I am.
Anyway. So I wasn't takin' this bein' small thing too well. And to use any of his bulbasaur stuff, I had to get even smaller. Like the size of a little dog. And that just, well you saw me at practice. I did okay but I was always on edge. And a couple of times I tried to use Hydro Canon instead of whatever you told me to use. 'Cause I got mixed up. And I know Bulba can't do that but, well, I sorta. Forgot.
Anyway I wasn't takin' it all well so. I'd go back to Bulba's room and sit there and remember bein' Blastoise and how he could use stuff as a human. And I thought Bulba should be able to do that, too. So I sat there and I tried doin' stuff. I mean, I tried skull bash once but that just gave me a headache so I figured that was down the tubes.
So I sat and I tried to see if I could get vine whip or solar beam or razor leaf to work. Solar beam I never felt nothin' on but after a couple of days of tryin' I could feel something for vine whip and for razor leaf. So I kept tryin' those two.
And then I got it to work. The nurse says that Bulba's got slits in his back so he can use those two moves as a kid. But they'd grown over. So when I burst through them I sorta. Tore open his back.
I was so excited I don't think I noticed it for the first couple minutes. It was sorta... adrenaline rush, you know? Then it hit me and well, I realized I'd lost some blood.
So I posted that thing, and then like a minute later Bulba in my body came crashin' through the door and I told him I was real sorry and I didn't mean to, and I am real sorry and once we switch bodies I'm gonna visit Bulba in nurse's office every single day and put lotion on his back and whatever he wants me to do for him. Carry him around school on my back or whatever he wants. Be his coach for physical therapy if he needs it. Buy him a new shirt to replace the one I ruined, pay for cleanin' his room, whatever he wants. If he has to pay for medicine or anything I'll foot the bill.
Bulba gave me a transfusion. Sorta weird, him in my body givin' me my own blood in his body.
But yeah. If you want me to do somethin' else. I'll do it to make up, once I'm back to bein' regular.
