"What?" ... No, really, what? "Pants...?" What do pants have to do with joining the army.

"Do you really need new pants that bad, Max, I could--" He was going to say 'I could buy you more pants' but 1) he was just as broke as Vinnie and 2) he didn't even know where to get size 57 pants. "Uh. Never mind."

Look this was a pretty big thing to drop on him out of nowhere, okay.
